EV Conversion Specialist

Current EV Motors | Dripping Springs, TX (Austin area) | On-site

Current EV Motors converts vintage vehicles and commercial fleets to electric using our patented direct-drive kits. We combine classic-car craftsmanship with modern EV systems so the vehicles people already own become cleaner, stronger, and simpler to maintain. Our team works out of a newer, fully HVAC’d warehouse in Dripping Springs—a clean, climate-controlled shop environment that makes detailed electrical and mechanical work more comfortable and efficient year-round.

We are hiring an EV Conversion Specialist who can contribute immediately on both the electrical and mechanical sides of the build.

About the Role
You will perform complete EV powertrain conversions and installations, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems (especially custom wire harnesses) while also handling mechanical integration and fabrication. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the depth of EV electrical work and the satisfaction of building real vehicles in a professional shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete EV powertrain conversions and installations.

  • Design, build, and install custom wire harnesses for high-voltage and low-voltage systems.

  • Handle motor, battery pack, controller, and accessory integration.

  • Design and engineer mounts and brackets as needed.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems during build and commissioning.

  • Maintain clear documentation and high-quality workmanship throughout each project.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of converting vehicles to EV (portfolio or detailed project list required).

  • Strong electrical experience with hands-on wire harness design and fabrication.

  • Solid high-voltage system knowledge (battery systems, controllers, power distribution, and safety).

  • Mechanical fabrication and assembly skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, fast-moving team.

  • Ready to start immediately.

Expectations

  • Punctuality and commitment: Arrive on time and complete a day’s work without excuses.

  • Personal drive and sense of urgency in all things.

  • Organization of thought, personal space, and the communal shop/work environment.

  • A success-through-innovation philosophy.

Nice to Have

  • Vintage/classic vehicle electrical systems experience.

  • Direct-drive or e-axle platforms.

  • Commercial EV conversion work.

  • Fleet or multi-vehicle projects.

What We Offer
Competitive compensation (contract with strong potential for full-time conversion based on performance and company growth), hands-on work on distinctive vehicles, and a newer, fully HVAC’d shop between Dripping Springs and Austin, TX. Opportunity to grow with the company while working on both the electrical depth and mechanical side of EV conversions.
